Registration is open for the 2011 UAB National Alumni Society Scholarship Run 5K/10K sponsored by Viva Health, to be run Friday, April 29, 2011. This race, formerly known as the UAB Dollars for Scholars Race, helps the UAB National Alumni Society raise scholarship funds for deserving UAB students. This past year, more than 800 runners participated in the run and helped raise more than $75,000 for scholarships.
The race will be held in the Pepper Place district of Birmingham. The honorary race chair is UAB alumna and WBRC Fox 6 anchor Janice Rogers. Runners of all skill levels and ages are welcome; the event is great for the entire family. The race will begin at 6 p.m. After the race, participants can enjoy the post-race party at Pepper Place with live music, food and entertainment. Food will be catered by Jim ‘N Nicks Bar-B-Q.
Runners may register for the 5K or 10K by downloading the application or registering on Active.com. Registration fees are $25 through Thursday, March 31 and $30 thereafter until April 29.
