Students of all ages will be able to access education-related activities through a partnership with UAB. The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has launched the UAB Education Support Programs for Access into Career Exploration.
The web-based portal is designed to centralize all of the university’s sponsored educational opportunities and activities for students ranging from elementary school through graduate and professional education. Opportunities range from STEM programs to fine arts and theater.
Students interested in opportunities can filter and search the database by program term, education level and education program category.
“In the past, UAB has done a tremendous job developing educational pipeline programs to raise awareness of available career fields for students to explore by their favorite interest or school subject,” said Brandon Wolfe, Ph.D., assistant vice president, Campus and Community Engagement, UAB Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “However, not all students or parents are aware of these initiatives due to perceived information barriers. Through UAB Ed SPACE, we hope to change that and do our part in empowering tomorrow’s educators, health care leaders, engineers, artists, business leaders and more.”
“This initiative is a reflection of our continued dedication to providing educational access and support for all students at UAB and beyond our borders,” said Paulette Patterson Dilworth, Ph.D., vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UAB.
Ed SPACE began as a campuswide collaboration and partnership between ODEI, UAB Information Technology, UAB Office of Undergraduate Research, the UAB Center for Community Outreach and the UAB School of Education.
