Through a variety of activities, Community Month engages students, faculty, staff and the broader community in UAB-centric diversity initiatives.

Many of these events allow departments and organizations to showcase their diversity efforts through presentations, lectures and performances. Others will allow participants to take part in critical dialogues and collaborate with local community partners.

Community Month includes events that bring together partners across the city of Birmingham, like Birmingham King Week; collection drives, such as the Ronald McDonald House Collection Drive sponsored by UAB’s Graduate School; and service opportunities, like MLK Day of Service 2022, sponsored by UAB’s Leadership and Service Council.

Programs include lectures, cultural programs, film screening and games organized by various academic and support units across the campus. Many of these events allow departments and organizations to showcase their diversity efforts through presentations, lectures and performances. Others will allow participants to take part in critical dialogues.

A full list of Community Month events can be found here or by visiting UAB’s Campus Calendar.
