Applying to UAB? Scholarship opportunities and other admissions information you should know

Stream campus 2022Applying to college is a monumental step for any high school student or applicant, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham makes every effort to afford applicants different opportunities for consideration and potential enrollment as a Blazer.

From key scholarship information to test-optional admissions policies, how to apply and upcoming UAB prospective student visits, knowing one’s options and how to access resources is key in the application process.

Merit scholarships available

UAB awards merit scholarships for a wide range of academic achievements, for students who apply either with a test score or as test-optional. To be considered for 2023 in-state freshman scholarships, students should apply for admission by Dec. 1.

For out-of-state, transfer or international students, a variety of scholarships with different deadlines are available as well.

For Birmingham-city students, the UAB Birmingham Promise Scholarship is available to students who are admitted to UAB as first-time, full-time freshmen in the academic year following high school graduation from a Birmingham City School.

UAB is test-optional

For admission and merit scholarship consideration, students can choose to apply with an ACT or SAT score or as test-optional. Students who apply as test-optional are evaluated based on several factors, including high school GPA, grades in coursework required for university admission, and rigor/performance in advanced courses (i.e.: AP, IB, Honors).

For those who cannot make it to UAB Day, daily campus tours and information sessions are available throughout the year for prospective students. Visiting UAB in a way that works for each potential student’s lifestyle has never been easier.
