UAB students provide free tax preparation

UAB accounting students will again partner with the United Way to offer free tax preparation services.

school_of_business_3_storyStudent members of the UAB Collat School of Business chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants will provide free tax preparation by appointment for those who qualify. Interested parties who earn less than $49,000 annually may call 888-421-1266 to see if they qualify and schedule an appointment. The days and times for this free service are as follows:

  • Feb. 4, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Feb. 18, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • March 3, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • March 31, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The UAB student volunteers will have workstations on UAB’s campus in the Business-Engineering Complex computer labs, 1150 10th Ave. South. A registration desk will be located in the building’s lobby. This is the sixth year the United Way of Central Alabama and UAB have partnered on the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. VITA gives UAB student volunteers the opportunity to receive real-world experience while providing a valuable service to the Birmingham community.
