Amy Burdette, a University of Alabama at Birmingham management major, has been selected to participate in the Disney College Program for the spring 2013 semester. The junior in the UAB Collat School of Business will work in the merchandise department at Walt Disney World Resort, where she hopes to learn best practices in working with customers.
Burdette is a member of Delta Gamma sorority and calls Birmingham home. She researched Disney thoroughly before applying and then completed web-based and phone interviews before she was hired.
Burdette will share an apartment with other participants and looks forward to learning about different cultures from those from around the world. In addition to work, she will have the opportunity to take personal and career development classes. The program, which is a paid internship, features three key components, according to the Disney website: Living, Learning and Earning.
