UAB Gospel Choir presents its spring concert April 13

New lead vocalists make their debut during the choir’s spring concert, which will raise money for the group’s upcoming 20th anniversary concert and fall 2016 tour.

gospel choir 4Students will make their debuts as lead vocalists Monday, April 13, when the University of Alabama at Birmingham Gospel Choir presents its spring concert.

Join the choir as they present an eclectic mix of well-known gospel standards, selections from the choir’s “Nu-Soul City” and “Go Dominate” recordings, plus contemporary chart-toppers by recording artists Kelly Price, Tye Tribbet, Walter Hawkins and Anita Wilson.

The concert is set for 7 p.m. in UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets are available through the UAB Ticket Office at 205-934-8001 and the ASC Box Office at 205-975-2787. Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 for groups of 20 or more with advance purchase. The UAB Gospel Choir, directed by Kevin P. Turner, is a class for credit in the College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Music. Proceeds from this concert will assist with expenses related to the choir’s 20th anniversary celebration this fall and the planned 2016 spring tour to Canada and New York City.
