fiesta ball 2015 2The Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center presents an opportunity to enjoy live music, Mexican food, libations and a silent auction, all while benefiting cancer research and patients.

Fiesta Ball 2015 will be held Thursday, April 30, from 6-10 p.m. at Iron City, 513 22nd St. South.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fund grants for young cancer investigators at UAB to help jump-start their research, with the goal of producing results to compete for additional federal grants. In addition, proceeds from the event’s silent auction will benefit services for cancer patients and their families.

“Without proper funding, we risk losing the next generation of scientists, along with the great advancements they will make in cancer research,” said Edward Partridge, M.D., director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. “The work they do is critical to the future of cancer care, and we can’t afford to lose these great minds as they begin their careers, and possibly hold the key to a cure.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $35 at the door. Corporate sponsors include Ard Contracting, AutoTec, Cadence Bank, Capstone Real Estate Services, Harbert Management Corporation, Protective Life Corporation, Riverside Refractories, Saginaw Pipe Company and Surgical Care Affiliates.
