Annual medical student Match Day ceremony is March 17

UAB graduating medical school students learn where they will do their residency training on Match Day at the Alys Stephens Center. 

news match dayThe University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine will celebrate Match Day 2017 on Friday, March 17, at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, when members of the graduating class learn where they will carry out their residency training and in which medical specialty they have matched.

The first match will be announced at 11 a.m. Doors to the Alys Stephens Center open at 9 a.m., with the doors to the Jemison Concert Hall opening at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be available live online at www.uab.edu/matchday beginning at 10:55 a.m. 

Match Day is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program, which provides an impartial venue for matching residency programs with more than 42,000 applicants — including graduates from U.S. medical schools, international medical schools and U.S. osteopathic schools — who compete for available positions each year.
