Muntner is a professor of epidemiology and the associate dean of research in the School of Public Health. His recent research has focused on hypertension, high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. He was the lead author on a recent national study that looked at the impact of the new American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association hypertension guideline. The study found that, under the new guideline, approximately 103.3 million people in the United States will be categorized as having high blood pressure.
