Sims has a passion for educating the public on health and wellness, specifically educators who work with children. She focuses her research and scholarship on integrating physical education and health education into the classroom. She looks for ways to advocate for healthy, active schools who utilize every opportunity to bring active bodies and active minds together in the classroom. Interventions include active learning, combining literacy and exercise and advancing motor skills through activity.
As a professor, Sims provides the knowledge and skills for tomorrow’s educators to take physical education in their classroom. Her expertise surrounds the how and why we play games and uses this to encourage activity in children.
