Original work by UAB professor to be performed in free guest recital

A UAB professor's original work will be performed by two guest artists Oct. 31.

william_price_4_storyTwo guest artists will perform “I Forget What Eight Was For,” an original work by UAB Assistant Professor William Price, D.M.A, in a free concert at noon, Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 in UAB’s Hulsey Recital Hall, 9501 13th St. South.

The UAB Guest Artist Recital will feature Benjamin Miles, tuba, and Sarah Miles, flute. Benjamin Miles is assistant professor of music at Wright State University, where he teaches tuba and euphonium, performs with the Faculty Brass Quintet, and teaches music technology and orchestration. Sarah Miles is lecturer of music in applied flute at Ohio Northern University, and also is a member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Both are competition award-winners who perform widely with orchestras throughout the country.

Also on the program: Overture to “Ruslan and Ludmilla” by Mikhail Glinka, “Romanza” from Concerto for Bass Tuba by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Waltz from “Suite Antique” by John Rutter, and Fantasy for Flute and Tuba (2011) by Ben Miles.
