Navin C. Nanda, M.D., distinguished professor of medicine in the UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease and director of the echocardiography laboratories at UAB, has been named ‘The Father of Modern Echocardiography’ by the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiologists for his “pioneering contributions in all fields of cardiac ultrasound, including perioperative echocardiography.” The honor was conferred at the group’s annual conference in New Delhi.
