UAB Cancer Center scientists present pioneering research at ASCO national meeting

UAB investigators will present innovative patient-centered research at the American Society of Clinical Oncology national meeting.

cancer centerA team of physician-scientists and researchers from the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will present some of the latest advances in patient care during the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Chicago from June 3-7.

UAB Cancer Center investigators are authors on more than 50 abstracts accepted by ASCO for the annual meeting. Lead authors include Rebecca Arend, M.D., gynecologic oncology; Smita Bhatia, M.D., MPH, pediatrics, cancer outcomes and survivorship; Harry Erba, M.D., Ph.D., hematological malignancies; Warner Huh, M.D., gynecologic oncology; Kelly Kenzik, Ph.D., cancer outcomes and survivorship; and Guru Sonpavde, M.D., urological oncology.

Topics presented to more than 25,000 oncology professionals will range from the future of personalized medicine in ovarian cancer management to racial disparity in older early-stage breast cancer survivors, to potential actionable targets in prostate cancer.
