The gala is sponsored by the Research Civitan Club.

BondNight3Throw on your best James Bond attire and join the Research Civitan Club to raise money to benefit the Civitan-Sparks Clinics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The club will host its annual gala Saturday, Nov. 2. The theme is Bond Night: 007 and will involve games, activities, food and drawings for various prizes.

The Civitan-Sparks Clinics provide evaluation and intervention services for individuals with a broad range of physical, developmental, learning and/or behavioral challenges, in a family-centered and culturally sensitive setting. The mission of the clinics is to improve the well-being and the quality of life of individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities through partnerships with consumers, professionals, organizations and agencies.

“The Civitan-Sparks Clinics have been providing evaluation and diagnostic services for developmental, behavioral and genetic disorders for nearly 45 years in Alabama. We hope the public and the UAB community will join us in dressing up for a night of fun and excitement to benefit this good cause,” said Megan McMurray, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and one of the event organizers. “We will also honor the past Alabama Civitan District 1 governor, Jerry Levert, for his role in helping promote the mission of Civitan.”

The event will be held in the atrium of the Civitan International Research Center, located at 1719 Sixth Ave. South from 4-7 p.m. The gala is open to the public. Tickets cost $30 for the general public and UAB faculty and staff. Tickets are $15 for graduate students, interns, residents and postdoctoral employees.
