UAB researchers discover novel mechanism involved in formation of memory, learning

"Memory improved with the absence of H2A.Z, which was unexpected, since we hypothesized that H2A.Z would be a necessary part of memory formation in normal situations," J. David Sweatt, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Neurobiology said. "This gives us an intriguing new target for therapies for conditions involving memory loss or poor memory formation."
