McGwin wins Bartimaeus Award for vision and driving safety research

mcgwin3Gerald McGwin, Ph.D., professor and vice chair of the Department of Epidemiology and associate director of UAB’s Clinical Research Unit in the Department of Ophthalmology, is the 2011 recipient of the Bartimaeus Award from the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. The award, presented at the biennial World Congress on the Eye and the Auto, recognizes research excellence in the area of vision and driving.

McGwin is the second member of the UAB faculty to win the award since its inception eight years ago. Cynthia Owsley, Ph.D., professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Ophthalmology, won the inaugural award in 2003.
