Several University of Alabama at BirminghamDivision of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatologyfaculty members and trainees have been named to leadership positions within the American College of Rheumatology, with terms ranging from two to three years.
Appointed rheumatologists include:
- Kenneth Saag, M.D., MSc,Secretary, American College of Rheumatology (2018-2020)
- S. Louis Bridges Jr., M.D., Ph.D., Vice President, Rheumatology Research Foundation (2017-2019)
- Maria Danila, M.D., MSc, MSPH, Member, ACR Committee on Quality of Care (2018-2021)
- Courtney Crayne, M.D., Fellow-in-Training Member, Government Affairs Committee (2018-2021)
- Amanda Schnell, M.D., Fellow-in-Training Member, Committee on Corporate Relations (2018-2021)
The American College of Rheumatology is a professional membership organization committed to improving the care of patients with rheumatic disease and advancing the rheumatology subspecialty.

In 2018, UAB’s rheumatology division was ranked 10thin the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
