Scott recognized at the prestigious Minority Business Awards 2020 ceremony

Demetria P. Scott was awarded for her continuous efforts in the area of diversity and inclusion at the Minority in Business Awards 2020.

MBAHeadShotDemetria P. ScottDemetria P. Scott, manager for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Small Business Inclusion, was awarded as the winner of the Diversity Leader Award, presented by BB&T, at the 2020 Minority Business Awards.

Scott’s current role includes managing Small Business Inclusion, Small Public Works Projects and the Academic Small Business Alliance (ASBA) Bridge to Success Project. Her responsibilities include managing, supervising and coordinating all outreach, in-reach and reporting activities in support of UAB’s diverse business efforts in procurement, construction and professional services.

During her 25 years at UAB, Scott has chaired many committees and was recently appointed to serve on the Institute for Supply Management’s Board of Directors as chair of the Supplier Diversity Committee.

Scott received UAB’s Diversity Champion Award — staff category — in 2007 and UAB’s Commission on Women, Outstanding Woman of the Year — staff category — in 2016.
