Fellowship in the NAP is extended to the professionals who have excelled and are dedicated to furthering interprofessional practice, scholarship and policy in support of interprofessional care.
“I am honored to be recognized for my work as an interprofessional scholar by the National Academies of Practice,” Shorten said. “As I am the director of the Office of Interprofessional Curriculum at UAB, this membership is significant because it extends unique opportunities for collaboration across professions at the national level. I am looking forward to working with other passionate health care scholars within NAP, to create new opportunities for expanding interprofessional education, policy and practice.”
Shorten’s career includes three decades of work in interprofessional education and research to improve quality and safety in health care. She also creates innovative educational experiences for students to prepare the workforce for the future and ultimately improve experiences and outcomes for patients and their families.
