The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry’s Tammy Than, O.D., has been named the 2015 AOA Optometric Educator of the Year by the American Optometric Association.
Than, a UAB professor of optometry, was recognized for outstanding service on behalf of the profession, optometric education and the visual welfare of the public. Among other professional accomplishments, Than has also won the American Optometric Student Association Teaching Award six times.
Than will be recognized at the 2015 AOA meeting June 24.
