Both doctors had multiple publications appear on the international list of the Top 100 Most Cited Papers in Dry Eye out of over 3,800 total dry eye publications considered. Kelly Nichols authored five publications on the list, and Jason Nichols authored two. One paper co-authored by both was ranked No. 13.
In addition, in a second bibliometric analysis, the Nicholses were named 12 and 13 among the top 15 most productive authors in international dry eye disease research out of over 13,800 unique authors of articles on dry eye. They are the only two optometrists named.
