Cora E. Lewis, M.D., MSPH, has been named the new chair of the Department of Epidemiology for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Public Health.
Prior to joining the School of Public Health, Lewis served as a professor in the Division of Preventive Medicine in the UAB School of Medicine. She was also the director of the Preventive Medicine Clinic.
Lewis is also a graduate of the School of Public Health, earning her Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in epidemiology, which she earned during her fellowship with the Division of General and Preventive Medicine.
Her research interests include a focus on the epidemiology of chronic diseases, where she has collaborated with investigators from the School of Public Health, as well as others around the country.
She began as the new chair April 1.
