Wallace Tumor Center debuts renovations with special events

The Cancer Center will host free special events for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers Aug. 19-23 at 1824 6th Ave. South.

The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will be celebrating its grand opening of the newly renovated Wallace Tumor Institute (WTI) from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. The Cancer Center will host free special events for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers Aug. 19-23 at 1824 6th Ave. South.

No dance, yoga, meditation or art experience is needed, but class sizes are limited. Learn more and register now online for these free programs:

Monday, Aug. 19
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 1st floor Lobby
Shake Your Soul – a unique and invigorating approach to body-spirit fitness by incorporating yoga and dance movements.

Tuesday, Aug. 20
11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. 2nd floor patent education room
Artful Yoga – a fun interactive class that blends yoga-nidra (sleep) with art therapy

Wednesday, Aug. 21
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 2nd floor patent education room
The Art of Silence – a guided meditation and art therapy session designed to help “Push” out the “noise” of physical and emotional stress

Thursday, Aug. 22
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 1st floor training room
Fresh Start – an interactive talk with experts who can help with making better choices about food and exercise for a healthier life after cancer
