The event will raise funds for the EAB student-run free clinic, which provides health and wellness education and health care to Birmingham’s uninsured and underserved.

The Heart + Sole 5K and Kids’ Fun Run is a family-friendly event open to participants of all ages held at Crestline Elementary School, 3785 W. Jackson Blvd., Mountain Brook. The Kid’s Fun Run, for children ages 3 to 12, will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5K steps off at 8 a.m.

Advance registration is $25 per person for the 5K and $10 per child for the Fun Run. All participants will receive an event T-shirt. On-site registration for the 5K is $30 and is cash only, opening at 7 a.m.

There is also a $25 sleep-in option for those who would like to support the event and get a shirt, but not run.

EAB was created in 2005 to both improve health care access for underserved populations in the Birmingham area and provide UAB medical students with service-learning experiences. Student volunteers see approximately 400 patients per year at the EAB Clinic at the Church of the Reconciler, which opened in downtown Birmingham in 2012.
