Elisabeth Chramer of Trussville crowned Miss UAB 2012

From a group of 18 young women, Elisabeth Chramer of Trussville was selected as the 2012 Miss UAB and awarded more than $2,000 in scholarships.

Elisabeth Chramer of Trussville, Ala., was crowned Miss University of Alabama at Birmingham 2012 last night, Oct. 19, 2011, at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center.

Miss_UAB_2011_storyEighteen young women participated in the pageant and $4,600 in scholarship money was awarded. The women were judged in five categories: personal interview, on-stage question, evening gown, swimsuit and talent. This year’s theme was “Beauty through the Decades.” The pageant was hosted by Miss Alabama 2011 Courtney Porter.

Chramer, 20, was awarded a $1,900 scholarship, and won the $200 community service award.

A junior at UAB, her major is political science and broadcast communications. She is the daughter of Paul and Valerie Chramer.

Katherine Fuller of Brierfield, Ala., was named first runner-up. She was awarded a $750 scholarship and won the $200 talent award. A senior at UAB, her major is chemistry.

Bhavika Patel of Andalusia, Ala., was named second runner-up, and was awarded a $650 scholarship. She is a UAB senior, majoring in health care management.

Amanda Allen of Springville, Ala., was named third runner-up, and was awarded a $550 scholarship. Her major is medical industrial distribution.

Rachel Davidson of Hoover was named fourth runner-up, and awarded a $350 scholarship.

A sophomore at UAB, her major is chemistry.
