BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Gospel Choir CD/DVD set "Go Dominate" will be re-released nationally Feb. 25 as a multi-media enhanced CD.

The original CD/DVD set will be out of circulation soon, said Kevin Turner, D.D., choir director. The enhanced CD will offer additional features such as videos and links when played on a personal computer.

Additionally, the choir plans to raise funds for upcoming projects by selling copies of their "Gospel Anthology" concert DVD for Black History Month. The November 2008 concert, in four acts, tells the story of centuries of African-American music. The DVD, shot live at UAB's Alys Stephens Center, will be available only during the month of February. Call 205-934-6155 or e-mail kturner@uab.edu for information.

Birmingham City Schools will include the "Gospel Anthology" DVD in their curriculum for Black History Month. Every school in the district has a copy of the "Gospel Anthology" DVD and an accompanying lesson plan, Turner said.

On March 13, the choir will embark on a four-day spring break tour that will include stops in Jackson, Miss.; Shreveport, La.; San Antonio and Houston, Texas; and New Orleans. In April, the choir will begin closed recording sessions of their fourth CD, which will be released locally in the fall at their 15th anniversary concert and nationally in January 2011.

About the UAB Gospel Choir

The UAB Gospel Choir is a music performance class that is open to all UAB students. The choir has released three CDs and a DVD, presents sold-out concerts at the Alys Stephens Center and tours annually. In 2008 their song "After You've Prayed About It" debuted at No. 23 on XM Radio's Spirit Channel play list and rose to the No. 2 spot for six weeks. They are a national and international ambassador for the university, receiving critical acclaim in newspapers, on television and online.
