Kenneth Saag, M.D., M.Sc., Jane Knight Lowe Professor of Medicine in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, has been named to the editorial board of the Annals of Internal Medicine.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Kenneth Saag, M.D., M.Sc., Jane Knight Lowe Professor of Medicine in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, has been named to the editorial board of the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Established in 1927 by the American College of Physicians, Annals of Internal Medicine is the premier internal medicine professional journal. As a member of its editorial board, Saag's role will be to strengthen the Annals' rheumatology content and advise on broader issues of editorial policy. His term will extend through June 2013.

"This is a highly prestigious appointment to a major journal's editorial board," said S. Louis Bridges, Jr., M.D., Ph.D., director of the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at UAB. "It is an honor for Dr. Saag and the university. He will be in a position to influence greatly the exchange of new information regarding the practice of rheumatology and internal medicine."

Annals of Internal Medicine has a large readership that includes more than 129,000 members of the American College of Physicians and many more physicians and researchers worldwide who read the journal via institutional subscriptions.
