BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Want to gain some insight into how your brain works? University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) neuroscience graduate students will celebrate Brain Awareness Week by directing educational activities March 15-19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at McWane Science Center, 200 19th St. North, Birmingham.

The students will demonstrate how the brain functions through dissections of animal brains and various activities that illustrate the ways the senses work. The activities are varied and suitable for children (and adults!) of all ages.

Brain Awareness Week is an international initiative to advance public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. UAB neuroscience graduate students associated with the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center and the Center for Community Outreach and Development are partnering with the McWane Science Center. Other sponsors include the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and the Birmingham chapter of the Society for Neuroscience.
