Equal Access Birmingham, a group of medical students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine devoted to improving health care for those in need, will partner with UAB physicians and the M-POWER clinic to host a Women’s Health Day March 29.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -  Equal Access Birmingham, a group of medical students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine devoted to improving health care for those in need, will partner with UAB physicians and the M-POWER clinic to host a Women's Health Day March 29. The Women's Health Day screening will include free gynecological exams, pap smears, STD testing and health education for under-served women with limited or no access to health care.

The event will be Monday, March 29 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the M-POWE Clinic, 4022 Fourth Avenue South.

Equal Access Birmingham staffs a free clinic at M-POWER every Wednesday evening. The group also runs local health fairs and screenings, holds education courses and addresses other needs of under-served citizens in the community with specialty clinics. EAB works to raise awareness of the local health-care gap by partnering with local businesses, holding public fundraisers and participating in advocacy events.
