University and School Orientations
UAB and the School of Nursing believe that orienting into the university and the School of Nursing is vitally important to the success and comfort of all new faculty, staff, and students.
The UAB Department of Human Resources offers several options for orientation: 1) Live-instructor led, 2) Online, or 3) Blended. All new employees in a full-time temporary, part-time regular, and full-time regular benefited roles are required to complete one of these orientation options. School of Nursing Orientation: Upon being hired, every individual will receive an orientation, based on appointment status and role, from the School of Nursing Director of Operations office.
New Faculty Orientation: New Faculty orientation is held in the fall and in the spring for all incoming new faculty hired in a benefited role. This is an opportunity for faculty to meet the program coordinators, chairs, and assistant and associate deans, as well as learn about the faculty organization and other departments that help to carry out the missions of the School of Nursing and UAB.
Department Orientation: Each individual will receive an additional orientation into their specific department at the time of hire. This is an opportunity to get to know your colleagues and fine-tune the knowledge of your day-to-day work.
