Nu Chapter was founded Jube 21st, 1958 under the direction of our first president, Margaret Millsaps. Nu Chapter was just the 12th Chapter of STTI. Since its inception, Nu Chapter has inducted over 2,500 members and currently has an active membership of over 620. Over the years, Nu Chapter has served both UAB and the surrounding Birmingham community, providing leadership in academics and clinical practice, promoting excellence in scholarship, teaching, and research. In honor of our first president, Nu Chapter initiated the Margaret Millsaps Endowed Scholarship Fund at our 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2008. This fund will be another shining example of how Nu Chapter strives to maintain a legacy of commitment to STTI, UAB, Birmingham, and the profession of nursing.
Moving forward, Nu Chapter is making efforts to re-engage our inactive membership, providing a wide range of academic and clinical programming and promoting service partnerships throughout our community.
