The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing hosted its first 2015 orientation for incoming master’s students Thurs., February 6 and Fri., February 7. Dean Doreen Harper welcomed the students to campus and they had the opportunity to break out into their specialty track groups to learn more about their individual curriculums.
The MSN curriculum is designed to prepare nurses for advanced specialty practice in advanced nursing roles and for entry into doctoral study in nursing. The UAB School of Nursing’s graduate programs are ranked in the top 5 percent among nursing schools in the U.S., with three master’s specialties highly ranked, two in the top 10. The School offers four focal areas for master's studies in nursing: nurse practitioner in either acute care or primary care (featuring 16 specialty tracks) nursing education, nursing informatics, and nursing and health systems management.
Those attending orientation now will begin their coursework in the summer of 2015.
