Turner-Henson receives leading SNRS award

Turner-Henson awardAnne Turner-Henson, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing, received The Leadership in Research Award at the 2014 Sothern Nursing Research Society (SNRS) annual conference. This award, not given every year, is based on the outstanding merit of a member's leadership, contribution to society, and promotion of nursing and health care research.

Henson was cited for her visionary, interdisciplinary and federally funded research that has contributed to the health of children with chronic illness, their caregivers, and in training other nurses in the Leadership Education for Child Health Nursing program. Henson joined SNRS in 1991 and since then has served in multiple roles , including abstract/grant reviewer, task force and committee member for the Annual Conference planning committee, chair of Parent/Child RIG, and vice president.
