PhD student Bryan Wilbanks receives AANA fellowship

Wilbanks webBryan Wilbanks, DNP, CRNA, PhD student and adjunct instructor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing has received a fellowship and scholarship from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). The fellowship begins in the fall of 2015.

Wilbanks has served on the AANA Foundation Closed Claim Research Team, reviewing malpractice cases against anesthesia providers and demonstrating a guideline for best practices. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists (ALANA).

Wilbanks earned his bachelor's degree from University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 2000, his master's in nursing from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2003 and his doctor of nursing practice (DNP) from the UAB School of Nursing in 2012. Prior to enrolling in the PhD program, Wilbanks was a nurse anesthetist at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.
