On Thurs., Oct. 1, 2015, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing hosted Senior Program Officer Carrie Davis Conway from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation.
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is dedicated to the support of women in nine southeastern states. The Foundation devotes most of its resources to the Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarship program, which provides scholarship grants to schools and colleges for deserving female students. The Lettie Pate Whitehead foundation awarded 64 UAB School of Nursing students scholarships in the 2014-2015 academic year.
While at the School, Conway had the opportunity to meet Gabrielle Miller, Brook Murphee and Angelica Chapman, three promising nursing students that have received Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarships.
The students gave Conway a tour of the nursing skills lab and Stephanie Duncan, 3rd semester baccalaureate student, demonstrated a live simulation and the students collectively shared how their experiences in the labs have enriched their education and prepared them for the workplace.
