
Blakely graduated from the UAB College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2004, the School of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2010 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2013. In 2014, she opened a nurse practitioner-led clinic in Moody, Alabama, called Hometown Family Medicine, which has grown to serve over 2,000 patients in less than two years.
Blakely serves as coordinator of the MSN Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track. In this role with the School, she teaches students about the evidence used in practice and how to apply that knowledge to everyday life.
Recently, Blakely also received the 2016 UAB School of Nursing Young Alumni Merit Award which recognizes young nurse leaders who have received a degree from the School within the last 10 years and have demonstrated significant accomplishments and leadership in the field of nursing.
