Alumnus named dean at Valdosta State

University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing alumnus James Pace, PhD, MDiv, APRN, BC, FAANP, FAAN, has been named Dean of the Valdosta State University College of Nursing and Health Sciences (VSU CONHS). He is currently the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Pace will begin his new role in June 2020.

Pace earned his PhD from the UAB School of Nursing in 1986, and his scholarship lies in the areas of spirituality/religion and health, palliative/hospice care, and HIV/AIDS and spirituality. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy in Nursing and is involved in several other professional organizations. Pace’s teaching experience spans three decades; he has taught at UAB, Emory, Vanderbilt and NYU. He was also named a UAB School of Nursing Visionary Leader in 2010.
