A Birmingham native, Dr. Bailey received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and French from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) before receiving her Doctor of Optometry from UABSO. During her pediatrics residency in Chicago, IL, she provided direct patient care, precepted care, taught, and observed in many specialty areas, but enjoyed these the most: special needs, urgent care, pre- and post- strabismus surgery, Illinois Special Olympics, and teaching student laboratories in visual perceptual testing, vision therapy, and strabismus/amblyopia diagnosis.

She has presented posters or case reports at the following annual meetings: AAO 2016, Michigan Vision Therapy Study Group 2017, COVD 2017, and AOA 2017.

Dr. Bailey enjoys spending as much time in clinic with students as possible, and strongly believes in the Socratic method as an interactive teaching method. She currently sees patients and works with students in the pediatrics, primary care, and community eye care clinics. Dr. Bailey is the team optometrist for the UAB women’s soccer team (Go Blazers!) and is active in return-to-play concussion protocol research.

Outside of clinic, Dr. Bailey enjoys hiking with her dogs, attending live music events, and reading literary fiction.
