A postdoctoral research fellow position is immediately available for a joint project between investigators in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at UAB to study mechanisms and countermeasures of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes following exposure of pregnant individuals to halide gases.  This project is part of an ongoing series of studies supported by the counteract network:  http://www.ninds.nih.gov/research/counterterrorism/counterACT_home.htm.

Necessary background includes a deep knowledge of human and animal physiology and experience with small animal microsurgery.  Additional background is desired in either or both vascular biology and the biology of normal and complicated pregnancy.  The successful applicant will have a record of strong publications and will need to demonstrate independent thinking and excellent skills in written and oral communication.
