A post-doctoral or research associate position is available in the laboratory of Xiaosi Han, PhD, in the Division of Neuro-Oncology, Department of Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The major focus of research is Protein Arginine Methyltransferase-5 (PRMT5) and Dual Specificity Phosphatase-4 (DUSP4) in Glioblastoma stem cell biology and gliomagenesis.  Approaches of researches will involve molecular biology and animal models to study these targets and the molecular mechanisms involved, ultimately towards developing small molecular inhibitors to treat glioblastoma.     

Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D., or equivalent. Priority will be given to qualified candidates with a strong background in cell culture, molecular biology, and animal models. The candidate will be expected to write and think independently for innovative research. He/she should be able to analyze data and write manuscripts. Salary will follow NIH guidelines commensurate with training and experience. Enthusiastic, motivated individuals with a strong interest in cancer biology are encouraged to apply.
