A full time position is available immediately at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry Ocular Surface Clinical Eye Research Facility (OcCERF). The position will be focused on translational research and will include work on both investigator initiated and sponsored research in areas that may include dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction, contact lenses, pharmaceuticals, refractive error (myopia, presbyopia), allergy, or infection. The position will also include study related management activities, including recruitment, protocol development, regulatory documentation creation and management, development of reports and analyses, and presentation of findings.

Required qualifications include

  • OD or foreign equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with patients in a clinical or research setting
  • Willingness to work with a collaborative translational research team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and basic biostatistical knowledge

Preferred qualifications include

  • Experience or interest in cornea/contact lenses/anterior segment/dry eye/meibomian gland disease
  • MS or PhD in vision science or related
