Mentor: Dr. Jianhua Zhang, Department of Pathology

Description

The Zhang Lab is looking for a postdoctoral scholar. We are a very collegial and diverse group working on an exciting new research area integrating autophagy, metabolism and redox signaling in the context of cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s diseases in the Department of Pathology and the Center for Free Radical Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  We have a strong track record in developing Post-Docs in their independent careers. 

The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of extension contingent on satisfactory performance. Salary will follow NIH guidelines commensurate with training and experience.

Qualification:


Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in biomedical science or related discipline are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should have a proven track record with publications. Strong motivation, good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are required. Prior experience in relevant fields including e.g. cell culture, animal handling, neuroscience or cardiovascular disease, and molecular biology techniques is desirable.
