Harold P. Jones
Dean, School of Health Professions
Dr. Jones was a founding member of the Council on Allied Health for North Carolina and the Santa Fe Research Consortium. He served as one of two deans on the Pew Commission Workgroup on the Future of Allied Health. He is also an active member of the Southern Deans’ group, serving on the Legislative Task Force, and in that role has been active in the promotion of legislation to address workforce issues in allied health.
Dr. Jones earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke University, and he was a participant in Harvard’s Management Development Program. He was a co-developer of UAB’s Leadership Development Program (BLAZE), chaired the University’s NCAA Recertification Self-Study Committee, and was a member of the Economic Rules Task. He currently chairs the University’s Athletic Advisory Committee, chairs the Organizational Effectiveness Committee on Facilities, and serves on the University Fringe Benefits Committee Force. Recently, he has been active in studying the potential impact of health care reform on the health care workforce and has been an invited speaker at The Institute of Medicine on this topic.
