UAB Professor Peter Pappas, M.D., a specialist in infectious disease, is among an inaugural group of non-government researchers selected to conduct clinical research at the nation's largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research.
Doreen C. Harper, Ph.D., dean of the UAB School of Nursing, has been appointed to the Department of Veterans Affairs Special Medical Advisory Group, which advises on the care and treatment of veterans and other matters. UAB has played a prominent role in aiding veterans through care and opportunity during Harper’s tenure.
UAB's Faculty Fellows in Engaged Scholarship program is open to all faculty involved in undergraduate teaching, with priority given to courses taught by faculty who are new or marginally experienced with service-learning. Bisakha Sen, Ph.D., associate professor of health care policy at UAB, says the data suggests culture or genetics may play a larger role among women in her findings published in Obesity.
