ArchivesThe UAB Archives were established in November 1992 by President Charles A. “Scotty” McCallum Jr. to maintain records of historical value and collect the history of the health sciences. Today, the archives have 279 discrete series of University Records, 188 discrete manuscript collections and more than 70,000 photographs in the various collections. Other items include letters, memos, diaries, ledgers, scrapbooks, pamphlets and article reprints, news clippings, audio- and videocassette tapes and microfilm, plus a backlog of UAB yearbooks, catalogs and magazines. Much of the Archives’ material can be accessed online at www.uab.edu/archives, and physical collections are housed at Lister Hill Library.
