A new home for science and engineering

bec retro insideMore than 35 years ago, the Business-Engineering Complex opened for classes during the fall of 1983 and was formally dedicated Jan. 21, 1984, as the new home for UAB’s schools of Business and Engineering.

Now, plans are underway for the first phase of a new Science and Engineering Complex to house the College of Arts and Sciences departments of biology, physics and chemistry. In a future phase, the new complex will support the unique instructional, research and collaborative needs of those programs, joining science, technology and engineering programs into a highly visible, modern space.
