Nursing expands across the ether

dec 16 retro insideIn November 1958, a new home for the nursing school operated by University Hospital was officially dedicated. The building, once home to a beloved Southside barbecue restaurant, Dr. Gus’ BBQ, didn’t house the program for long; it was demolished eight years later to make way for the Civitan-Sparks Clinics. Now, the school resides in a state-of-the-art building that opened in 2018 and features technology-enhanced classrooms and nursing competency labs.

Now, the School of Nursing its commitment to innovation — this time with its “Clinical Pearls” podcast, an audio-only format of the live UAB Nursing Health Network’s YouTube series, which launched in the summer 2018. Nursing faculty share their expertise and educational resources with the show host and offer the latest information and insights on health care issues and their profession. 

The podcast launch comes as “Clinical Pearls” enters its third season on YouTube, with a reach that extends to thousands of viewers in almost all 50 states and across 20 countries. New episodes of are released every other week, and the podcast is available on iTunes, Spotify and other popular podcasting apps.
