UAB Police preparing for national accreditation review
The UAB Police Department is undergoing its periodic review by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, and assessors will be on campus April 8-11.

WBHM spring fund drive starts April 2

UAB helping Birmingham to meet Smarter Cities Challenge
Birmingham, with help from UAB, is one of 16 cities chosen this year to receive a grant that contributes the skills and expertise of IBM’s top talent to help cities address critical issues. It's hoped this will lay the groundwork for change that will help stabilize neighborhoods and lead to sustainable, healthy growth for decades to come.

Stephens to retire after four decades with Sterne Library
Mervyn Sterne Library Director Jerry Stephens, Ph.D., announced he will retire May 31. Stephens, who first joined the library in 1974 when it was a part of the former University College, is only the second director for UAB's main academic library. A national search for dean of libraries is underway.

Work to detour night traffic on University Boulevard
Work began March 25 to install a new electrical feed to Campbell Hall from the 14th Street side of the building; it is not expected to disrupt daily traffic in the area.

Nafziger earns EMS board certification
Associate Professor Sarah Nafziger, M.D., is among the nation's first physicians to be board-certified in Emergency Medical Services, a sub-specialty of emergency medicine available to diplomates of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
