Estradiol and Complement Activity Trial
This research study will look at a certain part of the immune system, called the complement system, as it relates to a hormone called estradiol. We will compare the components of your tears and blood to see how the complement system is affected by estradiol in women across different ages. We will also use some cells gently collected from the front of your eye to see how proteins of the complement system are made. We will use your tears, blood, and cells for testing if you agree to donate them to the study. The study will enroll 48 women between the ages of 35 and 64.
